Mood: waiting for wind

Nice to get Pevensey in proper side-shore SW conditions for a change.
Waves started to form up in sets as tide fell to mid-tide during
session.
Wind was pretty strong when gusts came through, clicked 35 knots on windy
on the beach but sure it was stronger out the back !
First sail with U-Surf for a while (he's a proper wuss when it's cold), and
VFW Mark joined us not long after we'd gone out (delayed by yet another
customer).
U-Surf and I both went for our 84ltr wave boards and 4.7m rigs (his being a
60 wide U-Surf and Gaastra Poison, mine a Fanatic New Wave Twin and
Ego).
We both applied extra downhaul pretty quickly.
It was getting to be 4.2m weather if honest, but with a rip on the inside
making things a little iffy if you were there in a lull, and us both being
too lazy to change down ...... we carried on.
Mark rocked up and we told him 4.2m would be best, but he also went 4.7m in
the end, with bonus downhaul applied, and plugged into his RRD 90 wave
thingy.
All three of us creep into the over 85kgs club, so take it from me that it
was pretty windy.
As the waves shaped up, it was a ramp fest for jumps. Wasn't brilliant for
riding though we could manage a wiggle or two between gusts on what was on
offer.
I should probably apologise to Gutted for taunting him as the poor fella is
office bound weekdays at the moment (though with iminent clock change I
reckon he'll be squeezing some afternoons off out of his holida
entitlement) .....
Really good fun session on the Twinny before I switched to the AllWave 92
for some extra jumping action on the inside ramps, using the extra width to
get up to speed quicker than the narrower twinny to gain extra altitude. My
Allwave 92 is the same width as U-Surf's 84ltr U-Surf, and worked really
well even out the back in the choppier nukin conditions !!
Actually feeling sunburnt, though I know it's windburn really, and totally
satisfied after today's session.
Tomorrow I reckon I can afford to work an hour longer before bunking off
for another session, though perhaps it'll be less windy so can use a 4.7m
without stretching my arms any further !!
